Where to start with blogging this wedding…Dan. Dan-the-awesome-super-disco-dj-man. I’ve worked with Dan at a few weddings and ran into him at wedding fairs and the one thing you’ll take away from meeting him, is that he’s a hard man not to like. A cheeky wee chappy who would help anyone, I knew this was going to be a fun wedding to photograph.
Dan and Jennie got married at Dale Hill Golf Club and Hotel in Ticehurst. I have to admit, I’d never heard of it before but was pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was. Golf clubs, for me, always have that 1970s boys club vibe to them. However the rag tag bunch of suppliers Dan and Jennie had on the day made the place look amazing and the atmosphere on the day was wonderful, as was the weather!
Without this turning into an advertisement for tons of other wedding suppliers, I do feel like I need to mention the people that came together for this day. Jim Cattermole was the toastmaster for the day. Jim is one of the few toastmasters who I think is suited to weddings. I find sometimes that toastmasters approach weddings with the air of pomp and ceremony perhaps better suited to a Freemason even than a wedding. Jim is as down to earth and laid back as you could hope and every wedding I’ve done with him he seems to bond with the crowd instantly. Obviously him being bald helped him become best mates with our Dan.
Matt Barker was on Marryoke duty, and luckily I managed to escape this time unlike at the Gladwells wedding a while back. Sean of Smooth Wedding Productions was the wedding videographer of the day and was his usual awesome self. I’ve run into singing waiters a few times at last year and I have to admit that I’m rather fond of them. They always seem to get people laughing and having fun during the sit down part of the day. These Singing waiters are probably the best ones I have worked with, although they do like to talk about football quite a bit and I literally had no idea what they were talking about. The venue was decorated by the lovely Sonia of PDE Venue Decor, who also hosts some wonderful wedding fairs that you should deffo check out. Shades Events were the Disco guys for the evening, an old and close friend of Dan and Jennie, they had the dance floor going all night. Hayley from Flair was on hair and make up duty and is always a pleasure to run into.
So back to Dan. Dan is no shy wallflower and sung his new bride a song during the meal, not to mention busting some moves on the dance floor in the evening. Throughout the day I kept noticing that Mama Elliot always looked at her son with a big proud smile on her face, and even more so when looking at Dan and Jennie together. So it was lovely to hear her give a speech, even if it was less embarrassing than I had hoped for.
It’s hard not to smile when you see Dan and Jennie together, or hear how they banter with each other. They balance one another out so well and Jennie definitely keeps Dan in line. I don’t really know Jennie as well as I do Dan, but she clearly has the patient of a saint and comes across as a genuinely loving warm lass.
Anyway, enough mush and chit chat. Here are my highlights of Dan and Jennies wedding!
