I went to Venice a year or so ago, and shot this cute couples engagement session out there. Well, they got married! What a wedding it was.

Hannah and Alex, chose the Maidens Tower at Leeds Castle in Maidstone, Kent for their big day. Built in 1119 by Robert de Crevecoeur as a Norman stronghold, the castle has been rebuilt and transformed over the centuries and today serves as a wonderful landmark and tourist attraction. One of the great things about the castle, is that you can actually get married in the grounds! The Maidens Tower is a 16th century stone building, used for weekend house parties in the 1920s, and is now a glamorous self-contained venue perfect for a wedding ceremony, evening celebrations and overnight accommodation.

It’s kind of weird writing about the castle in this blog post. I have worked in the accommodation team at Leeds Castle for nearly three years now, and as I write this, I am actually working my notice period. Leeds Castle has been one of the loveliest places I’ve ever worked. The staff both on the wedding team and all across the estate will bend over backwards to help you out and make sure you have a fantastic day. It’s rare in this day and age, where we are all more connected to our devices than social interaction, that you come across a place where you genuinely feel welcome, and Leeds Castle is one of those places. I will be sad to leave, however I can hand on heart say, that I truly feel there isn’t a more wonderful place to get married than at this beautiful historic venue.

Hannah and Alex’s love for each other was definitely complimented by the choice of venue. As you’ll see, it was an emotional day and I am always a sucker for a groom who isn’t afraid to show how he feels. There were tears all round throughout the day, and the Italian members of the family were as passionate as you would imagine.

We had a touch of rain in the evening, and luckily Hannah and Alex were up for going out in it to grab a quick photo. From what I’ve seen on Facebook, things got pretty wild after I left and there was a Thriller “Dance Off” between the boys and girls. Needless to say, it looked epic, and I have to say I think Hannah and the girls won.

I just want to say a massive thank you to Alex and Hannah and their family. Not only for making me a part of the wedding day, but even for their warm welcome in Venice. Lastly, to all of you at Leeds Castle who I have had the pleasure of working with, over the last 3 years. I thank you, for your time, your help and your support…I would say goodbye, but I’ll be back next year for weddings anyway. Instead I shall just say, See you later!

So here we are, Hannah and Alex and The Maidens Tower at Leeds Castle. Enjoy!
