Abby and Matt got married last year at the stunning Cooling Castle Barn in Kent. Abby got ready in the new bridal lounge that they have at the castle. I remember the days when it just used to be a standard bedroom there, but they’ve really upped their game with this new feature. Its a huge room for brides to get ready in, with a balcony too. It makes for some fantastic photos. The day started off quite bright and sunny, and they were all prepared for an outdoor summer wedding. However as you’ll see from the photos, the rain did come. Luckily it didn’t rain too hard, and I think the umbrellas add a little something to the photos.
Abbys Dad gave her the biggest hug ever when she walked down the stairs to greet him, before heading round to the main rooms ready for her walk down the aisle. Matt, I think its safe to say, was a bit emotional. As much as he played it cool to begin with, when the music started he shed a few tears, especially when he saw his beautiful bride to be walking towards him. The wedding was accompanied by a beautiful string quartet who played the entrance music and whilst the register was being signed.
Its easy to shoot the same locations for portraits at Cooling Castle, so what I like to do is to use the field behind the grounds for something a little bit different. The ever wonderful John Oakley (Toastmaster) was on hand to help our bride into the field and avoid her dress getting snagged.
The speeches were hilarious and equally emotional. Matt had to put his sun glasses on to hide his tears and to concentrate on getting through his speech. All in all it was a terrific day and everyone had a blast.
Here are my highlights from Abby and Matts big day at Cooling Castle Barn.
