Shella & Warren – An Islington Town Hall Wedding
I don’t often venture into London for weddings, but when I do I always love shooting around the more urban environment than I’m used too. For Shella and Warrens wedding, I started off at St Pauls Grange hotel, which you may have guessed is right by St Pauls Cathedral. It also happened to be one of the hottest days of the year. Lugging my gear through the public transport network in the heat was not fun in the slightest!
Once I got to the hotel, myself, the groom and all the guests hopped on a double decker bus for the journey to Islington Town Hall. The big room at the town hall is one of my favourite ceremony places to shoot. The wood paneling, leather seats and those windows lead to a really nice and easy room to shoot. Warrens face lit up when Shella walked into the room and you could instantly tell just how in love these two are. After the ceremony we headed outside for confetti and to whizz through a few group shots. However the heat got the best of us and we decided to finish the groups off later, and instead head off to St Barts Brewery for the Reception.
St Barts Brewery is right by Smithfield Market and is owned by the same people who run the Hush Heath winery. It’s a gorgeous wee pub and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. It’s a pretty awesome place for a wedding reception, and there’s a little park just opposite too.
The speeches were hilarious, I don’t think anyone didn’t have a smile on their face whilst Warren and his best man gave their speech. Once the speeches were finished, there was an acoustic set by a band (who’s name evades me) and we took that as an opportunity to head on out for some group shots and some portraits of the couple. We went over to the park across the road and shot the family shots. Thankfully the sun had gone down a bit and it wasn’t a thousand degrees outside anymore. After we did the groups I took Shella and Warren into Smithfield Market and we shot some portraits around the telephone boxes and again in the park.
The band were in full swing when we got back and with that came the first dance, before I jumped in a cab and headed back to Kent.
