Matt & Nicky
A Lake District Wedding at the Haweswater Hotel
I have a lot of love for the Lake District, even more so in the Winter months when the sun is low all day and has this gorgeous warm glow to it. So when Matt (a fellow wedding photographer) asked me to be his wedding photographer, I jumped at the chance!
I shoot all over the place, and normally my journeys are pretty drama free. 5 minutes into my drive up to the lakes, I got a puncture….then as I got near…my clutch went, but I still made it. I stayed nearby in Penrith and headed over to the Haweswater Hotel on the morning of the wedding.
Matt and Nicky’s wedding was an intimate affair. Surrounded by their close friends and family, bathed in the golden light of winter it could not have been a more perfect setting as the hotel overlooked the lakes and dramatic scenery. Matt told me that they were going to walk down the aisle together, so I suggested they do a “First Look” away from everyone else, so that they could have a couple of moments of peace before the ceremony. Well, as Matt is stood facing me with his bride approaching a Lancaster Bomber flew behind me and distracted Matt, within seconds though he was back with us and the emotions came as he saw Nicky for the first time in her wedding dress.
The ceremony was a quick and simple one in a room with stunning views. Afterwards, everyone headed outside for drinks and canapes and celebrated the wedding. Afternoon tea was on the menu and if it wasn’t for the fact I can’t eat gluten, I would have eaten all the food, it looked amazing!
Anyway’s here are my highlights from Matt and Nicky’s Wedding at the Haweswater Hotel in the Lake District. If you’re getting married in the Lake District, you NEED to drop me a line so I can come shoot it!
